The Scion tC is a sport compact coupe designed and manufactured by the Scion division of Toyota. First unveiled at the NAIAS in 2004, the auto was introduced on the U.S. market for the 2005 model year. The tC features a 2-door hatchback coupe body style with five seats. Based on the Toyota “T” platform, the model is related to the Toyota Avensis, a mid-size auto produced since 1977. The automaker's original goal was to attract young buyers, offering the Scion tC with a variety of customization opportunities. The first-generation tC was marketed from 2005 till 2010. The model featured a 106.3-inch wheelbase and measured 174.0 inches in length, 69.1 inches in width, and 55.7 inches in height. It was offered only in one trim level, being outfitted with the following standard equipment: a cruise control, keyless entry, air conditioning, dual-pane sunroof, 17'' wheels, folding rear seats, and a premium sound system with audio controls mounted in the steering wheel. Optional Scion tC parts included 18-inch wheels, an upgraded airbag package, and Toyota Racing Development performance components.

The Scion tC was equipped with a 2.4 L 2AZ-FE 4-cylinder engine capable of 161 hp and 162 lb. ft. of torque. The version with a TRD Supercharger could produce up to 200 hp. A standard transmission was a five-speed manual, while a 4-speed automatic was offered as an option. The model could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 7.4 sec. An EPA combined rating for the automatic transmission was 24 mpg, which is considered average for most midsize sedans. The tC's interior was fitted with quality materials that provided high comfort; its upscale look was emphasized by metallic trim pieces and an elegant center stack that “flowed” into the center console. The automobile didn't have much legroom in the front, however, it featured roomy backseats and a spacious trunk. The 1st-generation tC was Scion's best seller, with almost 80,000 units sold by 2006.

The second generation of the Scion tC was first presented at the 2010 New York Auto Show and currently remains on the market. The updated model is more performance oriented, boasting a new 2.5L 2AR-FE straight-4 engine with an output of 180 hp mated to a 6-speed manual. An automatic gearbox is offered as an option. The exterior of the 2nd generation resembles the Scion Fuse concept car, introducing a similar rear quarter-panel window line, only with xB-styled A-pillars. Scion tC upgrades include new tC parts in the exterior, such as redesigned head- and tail lights and a grille that make the vehicle look more sporty and angular. Compared to the 1st generation, the new tC became 1.6 inches wider. The Scion tC is available in two trim versions: base and the 10 Series (limited edition). The base variant comprises a panoramic sunroof, 18'' alloy wheels, a touchscreen interface, Bluetooth phone and audio connection, and 8-speaker sound system. The 10 Series, which was launched for the tC's 10th anniversary, boasts exclusive silver paint, dark-finished wheels, and LED accent lighting.

The Scion tC, with its stylish design, innovative equipment, and a great list of optional features, can perfectly satisfy the needs of the Millennial Generation, giving the youth an opportunity to customize their auto exactly the way they want it to be. The model uniquely combines attractive style with utility, offering an impressive cargo space. The tC is enjoyable to drive and considered rather fast for everyday urban use. It certainly upholds Toyota's reputation for quality and reliability, being a rather distinctive model on today's automotive market.

Scion tC Accessories & Parts Reviews

I put this on a 2006 Scion TC since the OEM front motor mounts go out very fast. Car vibrates a lot during idle, but I knew this would happen so it's ok. Car feels great when accelerating and I defiantly feel the increase in torque. Very happen with the mount.
